Translation
The 대구지방환경청 announced that, as of 6 p.m. on September 4, it was fully lifting the algae alert issued for the 해평 point on the Nakdong River. It is 89 days since the first 'attention' stage was issued on June 8. The step follows measurements showing that the number of harmful blue-green algae cells at the 해평 point had come in below the threshold for the 'attention' stage twice in a row. Under the algae alert system, 1,000 cells or more per millilitre counts as 'attention', 10,000 or more as 'warning', and 1,000,000 as 'outbreak'. The day before, the algae alert at the 강정 and 고령 points had also been lowered from the 'warning' stage to the 'attention' stage. The 대구지방환경청 believes that the seasonal fall in temperature and the rain that recently fell in the region, among other things, affected the decrease in harmful blue-green algae.
