가습기살균제 피해자가 따로 손해배상 소송을 하지 않아도, 국가가 주도하는 심의를 거쳐 배상받는 제도가 10월 8일부터 시행됩니다. 국무조정실은 가습기살균제 피해구제 특별법이 개정됨에 따라 이 국가 주도 배상체계를 본격 시행한다고 10월 7일 밝혔습니다. 배상금은 치료비, 간병비, 장례비, 위자료 등으로 나뉘고, 치료비는 한꺼번에 받을지 일부를 먼저 받은 뒤 계속 받을지 고를 수 있습니다. 신청은 10월 8일부터 내년 4월 7일까지 6개월 동안 받습니다. 피해지원 종합포털에서 온라인으로 신청할 수 있고, 세종과 서울의 접수 창구에 직접 가도 됩니다. 기존 특별법으로 인정받은 피해자는 이미 낸 서류를 쓰는 데 동의하기만 하면 신청한 것으로 간주됩니다.

From October 8, a system takes effect under which victims of humidifier disinfectants are compensated through a state-led review process, without having to file a separate lawsuit for damages. On October 7, 국무조정실 (the Office for Government Policy Coordination) said it would fully launch this state-led compensation system following a revision of the special act on relief for humidifier disinfectant victims. Compensation is divided into items such as medical costs, nursing costs, funeral costs and consolation money, and victims can choose whether to receive their medical costs all at once or to receive part first and keep receiving the rest. Applications are accepted for six months, from October 8 until April 7 next year (2027). You can apply online on the humidifier disinfectant damage support portal, or go in person to the application desks in Sejong and Seoul. Victims already recognized under the existing special act are treated as having applied once they simply agree to the use of the documents they have already submitted.
