서울 종로구 국립현대미술관 서울관에서 김 크리스틴 선 작가의 개인전이 7월 31일부터 11월 29일까지 열립니다.
김 크리스틴 선은 1980년 미국 캘리포니아에서 태어난 청각장애 예술가입니다. 김 작가는 독일 베를린에서 활동하면서 언어와 소리, 소통 문제를 작품으로 다뤄 왔습니다.
이번에 새로 만든 작품 ’완고한 바위, 무모한 싸움들’은 큰 화면에 나오는 애니메이션 영상입니다. 이 화면은 55인치 스크린 72대를 이어 붙여 만든 것입니다. 관객은 국내 미술관 전시에서 가장 큰 휘어진 화면으로 작품을 보게 됩니다.
Translation
A solo exhibition by the artist Christine Sun Kim is running at MMCA Seoul in Jongno-gu, Seoul, from July 31 to November 29. Christine Sun Kim is a deaf artist born in California, USA, in 1980. Working out of Berlin, Germany, she has dealt with language, sound and communication in her work. The work she made for this exhibition, "Have Many Dumb Fights Against Rock," is an animated video shown on a large screen. The screen was made by joining together seventy-two 55-inch screens. Visitors get to see the work on the largest curved screen in a museum exhibition in Korea.
