제31회 부산국제영화제(BIFF)가 10월 6일부터 15일까지 열흘 동안 영화의전당을 비롯한 부산 곳곳에서 열립니다. 올해는 59개국에서 247편의 영화가 초청됐습니다. 개막작은 김종관 감독의 ’낮과 밤은 서로에게’로, 세계에서 처음 상영되는 월드 프리미어입니다. 경쟁 부문에는 14편이 초청됐습니다. 올해 BIFF는 국제영화제작자연맹의 ’A-리스트 영화제’로 공식 선정됐고, 경쟁 부문 최고상인 ‘부산 어워드 대상’ 수상작에는 미국 아카데미 출품 자격이 주어집니다. 관객이 직접 프로그램을 기획하는 ’커뮤니티비프’에서는 69편이 상영되고, ’동네방네비프’는 양산·서울 등 17개 지역으로 무대를 넓혔습니다.

The 31st Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) will be held for ten days, from October 6 to 15, at venues across Busan including the Busan Cinema Center (영화의전당). This year, 247 films from 59 countries have been invited. The opening film is director 김종관's '낮과 밤은 서로에게', which will have its world premiere, meaning it is shown for the first time anywhere. Fourteen films were invited to the competition section. This year BIFF was officially selected as an 'A-list film festival' by the International Federation of Film Producers Associations (FIAPF), and the winner of the Busan Awards Grand Prize, the top prize in the competition, will be given eligibility to be submitted to the U.S. Academy Awards. 'Community BIFF', where audiences plan the programs themselves, will screen 69 films, and 'Dongnebangne BIFF' (roughly 'BIFF all over the neighborhood') has expanded its stage to 17 areas, including Yangsan and Seoul.
