Prosecutors investigated a price-fixing case involving seven petrochemical companies and, on October 1, brought six of them, including LG Chem, OCI and PKC, to trial. Thirty-seven executives and employees, including current and former CEOs, were also indicted, and two executives among them were indicted while under arrest. According to the prosecution, the seven companies are accused of agreeing in advance on when and by how much to change the supply prices of eight products, including PVC, from January 2021 to April 2026. They are also accused of fixing in advance the prices they would submit in their clients' bidding. The scale of the price-fixing found by the prosecution is at least 16.3961 trillion won, the largest among the price-fixing cases prosecutors have investigated. The prosecution said that the damage from higher raw material costs was ultimately passed on in full to consumers.
