Korea Rises One Place to 12th in the WEF Tourism Index, With Sustainability Up From 20th to 13th

한국이 세계경제포럼(WEF)의 2025년 관광발전지수 평가에서 110개국 중 12위를 기록했습니다. 문화체육관광부와 한국문화관광연구원은 10월 8일 이 결과를 발표하며 2023년보다 한 계단 올랐다고 밝혔습니다. 한국은 2023년과 비교해 5대 분야 모두에서 순위가 올랐습니다. 환경, 고용, 지역사회 기여, 관광수요 등을 보는 ‘관광의 지속 가능성’ 분야가 20위에서 13위로 가장 크게 올랐습니다. 102개 지표 가운데 한국이 10위 안에 든 지표는 27개였습니다. 그중 기본 위생시설 이용률, 병상 밀도, 통계 제공 적시성 등 6개 지표에서 1위에 올랐습니다.

Korea ranked 12th out of 110 countries in the World Economic Forum's (WEF) 2025 Travel and Tourism Development Index assessment. On October 8, 문화체육관광부 (the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) and 한국문화관광연구원 (the Korea Culture and Tourism Institute) announced the result and said Korea had moved up one place from 2023. Korea improved its ranking in all five areas of the index compared with 2023. The biggest rise was in the 'sustainability of tourism' area, which looks at the environment, employment, contributions to local communities and tourism demand: it went from 20th to 13th. Of the 102 indicators, Korea was in the top ten on 27. It ranked first on six of them, including access to basic sanitation, density of hospital beds and the timeliness of statistics.
