Two Endangered Flying Squirrels Found in a Tree Hole by Ulsan's Taehwa River

울산 태화강의 강변 산책로에서 하늘다람쥐 2마리가 살고 있는 것이 확인됐습니다. 하늘다람쥐는 몸길이가 15~20㎝쯤 되는 작은 다람쥐입니다. 앞다리와 뒷다리 사이의 피부 막을 펴서 나무 사이를 날아갑니다. 9월 9일 자연환경해설사가 딱따구리 구멍을 살펴보다가 처음 발견했습니다. 울산의 숲에서는 하늘다람쥐가 확인된 적이 있지만, 태화강 산책로에서 둥지가 관찰된 것은 이번이 처음입니다. 울산시는 산책로를 지날 때 소음을 줄여 달라고 부탁했습니다.
Translation
Two flying squirrels have been confirmed living by a riverside walking path along the Taehwa River in Ulsan. The flying squirrel is a small squirrel with a body length of about 15 to 20 cm. It spreads the skin membrane between its front and back legs and glides between trees. On September 9, a nature guide was looking into a woodpecker hole and found them for the first time. Flying squirrels have been seen in Ulsan's forests before, but this is the first time a nest has been seen on the Taehwa River walking path. The city of Ulsan asked people to keep the noise down when they pass along the path.
