전 세계에 500여 마리만 남은 멸종위기종 넓적부리도요가 전북 고창갯벌에서 4년 연속으로 확인됐습니다. 고창군은 2023년 첫 관찰 이후 매년 1~2마리가 찾아온다고 밝혔습니다. 넓적부리도요는 국제자연보전연맹(IUCN) 적색목록에서 위급(CR) 단계이고, 국내에서는 멸종위기 야생생물 1급으로 지정돼 있습니다. 이 새는 러시아 극동 지역과 캄차카반도에서 번식하고, 겨울을 나기 위해 동남아시아로 이동합니다. 고창군은 고창갯벌이 넓적부리도요에게 풍부한 먹이와 안전한 쉼터를 제공하는 동아시아-대양주 철새 이동경로의 핵심 기착지로 꼽힌다고 설명했습니다.
Translation
넓적부리도요, an endangered bird of which only about 500 are left in the whole world, has been confirmed at the 고창 tidal flats in 전북 for a fourth year running. 고창군 said that since the first sighting in 2023, one or two birds have kept coming back each year. 넓적부리도요 is listed as Critically Endangered on the IUCN Red List, and in Korea it is designated an endangered wild species, class I. The bird breeds in the Russian Far East and on the Kamchatka Peninsula, and moves to Southeast Asia to spend the winter. 고창군 explained that the 고창 tidal flats are counted as a key stopover on the East Asian-Australasian Flyway, giving the bird plentiful food and a safe place to rest.
