Part of the September 3, 2026 daily edition
Translation
서울시 has revamped its '서울외국인포털', the city's portal for foreign residents, and started running it from September 1 under a new name, 'MY SEOUL+'. It can be used by going to global.seoul.go.kr in a browser on a computer or a phone, with no separate app to install. The portal organises by field the settling-in information foreign residents need, covering immigration, housing, employment, healthcare, education, women and family, and transport, and it has a new '맞춤정보' menu that gathers what each type of user needs, whether they are international students, marriage migrants, foreign workers, ethnic Koreans from abroad or young people from migrant backgrounds. The main content is offered in Korean, English, Chinese and Vietnamese, and other languages can be read through an automatic translation function. An AI chatbot that answers from the content registered on the portal has also been introduced. Support facilities for foreign residents can now be found on a map, and everything from applying for programmes such as Korean classes to booking consultations on law, labour, housing and visas, and even reserving a venue, can be done inside the portal.

Grammar points
N 등such as N, N and others
등 marks the list before it as a sample rather than the whole set, and this announcement leans on it three times: for the information fields, for the types of user and for the support facilities. Each 등 quietly says there is more than what is named, so a reader who takes the list as complete will under-read the service. Korean official writing almost never gives a closed list without it.
Example: 출입국·주거·취업·의료·교육·여성가족·교통 등 외국인 주민에게 필요한 정주 정보를 분야별로 체계화해 제공합니다.
The portal organises by field the settling-in information foreign residents need, covering immigration, housing, employment, healthcare, education, women and family, and transport.
N에 따라according to N, depending on N
N에 따라 makes one thing vary with another: 이용자 유형에 따라 means what you are shown depends on which type of user you are. Keep it apart from 에 따르면 (according to a source), which introduces someone else's statement; the two look alike but only 에 따라 expresses that something changes with something else.
Example: 유학생·결혼이민자·외국인노동자·동포·이주배경청소년 등 이용자 유형에 따라 필요한 정보를 모아 보여주는 '맞춤정보' 메뉴를 신설했습니다.
It has a new '맞춤정보' menu that gathers what each type of user needs, whether they are international students, marriage migrants, foreign workers, ethnic Koreans from abroad or young people from migrant backgrounds.
-(으)며and (formal, joining clauses)
-(으)며 joins two clauses of equal weight in written and formal Korean, where speech would use -고. Here it holds the four named languages and the automatic translation for everything else in one sentence, which is how the announcement shows they are two halves of a single language policy rather than separate features.
Example: 주요 콘텐츠는 한국어·영어·중국어·베트남어로 제공되며, 그 밖의 언어는 자동번역 기능으로 이용할 수 있습니다.
The main content is offered in Korean, English, Chinese and Vietnamese, and other languages can be read through an automatic translation function.
