예술의전당 has given space to club music for the first time since it was built in 1987. On the night of the 23rd an outdoor performance called '두둠칫 사일런트 디스코' was held, a show where the audience listens through wireless headphones to music a DJ plays on the spot. The stage was the music plaza that links the opera house and the concert hall. As 7 p.m., the starting time, drew near, several hundred people — among them citizens coming to collect headphones after booking — crowded the plaza. The participants were varied: not only men and women in their twenties but also foreigners, children, and people in their sixties. 예술의전당 plans to keep the music plaza programme going with a band performance and a market on the 30th, and a fashion show set to a 40-piece orchestra on the 18th of next month.

N 이후 marks a point from which something has held true up to now. It attaches to a noun or to a clause ending in -(으)ㄴ, as here: 세워진 이후, since it was built. 이후 spans a stretch of time reaching to the present, which is why it pairs naturally with 처음으로; 후 alone just means 'after' a single event. Its opposite is N 이전.

-뿐만 아니라 says the first item is real but not the whole story, and something further follows. After a noun it attaches directly (남녀뿐만 아니라); after a verb it needs -(으)ㄹ/-는 것 first. News writing often drops 만 and writes 뿐 아니라, exactly as this lesson's source does — same meaning, slightly quicker. The point of the phrase here is that the crowd was not who you would expect.

N 등 closes a list while saying it is not complete. It carries real weight in reporting: 헤드폰을 받으러 온 시민 등 수백 명 says the several hundred people included those collecting headphones, without claiming they were all there for that. Drop 등 in a translation and the sentence quietly makes a stronger claim than the reporter did.
