2026년 8월 13일 전국에 말라리아 경보가 발령됐습니다. 2026년 31주차에 채집된 얼룩날개모기에서 삼일열말라리아 원충 감염이 확인됐기 때문입니다. 매개모기에서 원충이 검출됐다는 것은 그 모기에 물렸을 때 말라리아에 감염될 확률이 높아진다는 뜻입니다. 2026년 기준 전국 말라리아 위험지역은 서울과 인천, 경기, 강원의 50개 시군구이며, 서울에서는 13개 자치구가 여기에 들어갑니다. 모기가 활발하게 활동하는 4월부터 10월까지는 일몰 직후부터 일출 직전까지 야외 활동을 되도록 자제하는 것이 좋습니다. 오한과 고열, 발한이 48시간 주기로 반복되고 두통이나 구토, 설사가 함께 나타나면 가까운 의료기관을 방문해야 합니다.
Translation
A nationwide malaria alert was issued on August 13, 2026. It follows the confirmation of vivax malaria parasite infection in Anopheles mosquitoes collected in the 31st week of 2026. That a parasite has been detected in the carrier mosquito means the chance of catching malaria if bitten by one has risen. As of 2026, the malaria risk areas nationwide are 50 municipalities across Seoul, Incheon, Gyeonggi and Gangwon, and 13 of Seoul's districts are among them. From April to October, when mosquitoes are active, it is best to avoid outdoor activity as far as possible from just after sunset until just before sunrise. If chills, high fever and sweating repeat on a 48-hour cycle, accompanied by headache, vomiting or diarrhoea, you should visit a nearby medical institution.

Puts the reason in its own sentence, after the fact it explains. Korean news likes this order — state what happened, then a short sentence beginning with the cause and ending in 때문입니다. Compare -기 때문에, which joins cause and result inside one sentence; the split version gives the reason more weight because it stands alone.
Example: 행사가 취소됐습니다. 비가 많이 왔기 때문입니다.

-다는 것은 -다는 뜻이다for it to be ~ means that ~
A definition frame: the first -다는 것은 takes a fact and holds it up, and -다는 뜻입니다 says what follows from it. Public-health notices use it to turn a technical finding into something a reader can act on — a parasite in a mosquito is a laboratory result; a higher chance of infection if bitten is advice.
Example: 불이 켜졌다는 것은 준비가 끝났다는 뜻입니다.
