한국전자통신연구원(ETRI)이 ‘설명가능한 의사결정지원 AI’ 핵심기술을 개발했다고 8월 12일 밝혔습니다. 이 기술의 시스템 구조와 요구사항을 담은 국제표준도 국제전기통신연합(ITU)에서 승인받았습니다. 이 기술은 사용자 질문에 대한 결과와 이유를 설명하고, 전문지식을 바탕으로 추론하며, 판단 근거와 분석 내용을 담은 보고서를 제공합니다. 또 추가 확인이 필요한 정보를 가려내고, 사용자 피드백을 반영하며, 변화하는 전문지식을 계속 업데이트합니다. 텍스트뿐만 아니라 표와 이미지, 도식 등 여러 형태의 정보도 활용할 수 있습니다. 연구원은 이 기술이 의료와 법률, 금융, 행정 등 신뢰성과 책임성이 중요한 분야에서 활용 가능한 기반을 확보했으며, 앞으로 AI 기본법상 고영향 AI의 설명 의무를 이행하는 데에도 활용될 것으로 기대된다고 밝혔습니다.

On August 12, the Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI) announced that it had developed the core technology for an 'explainable decision-support AI'. An international standard setting out the system architecture and requirements for the technology has also been approved by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU). The technology explains both the result and the reasons behind it for a user's question, reasons on the basis of expert knowledge, and supplies a report containing the grounds for its judgement and its analysis. It also identifies information that needs further checking, reflects user feedback, and continuously updates expert knowledge as that knowledge changes. Beyond text, it can draw on information in several forms, including tables, images and diagrams. The institute said the technology has secured a foundation for use in fields where trustworthiness and accountability matter, such as medicine, law, finance and public administration, and that it is expected to help meet the duty to explain required of high-impact AI under the AI Framework Act.

Adds a second item without dropping the first: 텍스트뿐 아니라 표와 이미지 = 'not only text but also tables and images'. 뿐 already means 'only', so 만 is optional — 뿐 아니라 and 뿐만 아니라 are both correct, the shorter one simply reads a little tighter. The second half normally carries 도 ('also'), and leaving it out sounds unfinished.

The agentless expectation formula of Korean institutional writing: -(으)ㄹ 것 packages a future event as a thing, and 기대되다 says it is looked forward to without saying by whom. Read it as a forecast, not a fact — a lot of research press releases end this way, and the sentence before it (what was actually built) is the part that has been demonstrated.

The Sino-Korean suffix -상 attaches to a noun to say 'as defined by' or 'from the standpoint of': AI 기본법상 고영향 AI = 'high-impact AI as defined under the AI Framework Act'. It is compact enough that legal and technical Korean uses it constantly, and it always points at a framework — a law, a regulation, a theory — that supplies the definition.
Example: 법률상 문제가 없다고 밝혔습니다.
