KAIST Develops Robot AI 'DiSPo' That Learns a Task From a Single Demonstration

카이스트 연구팀이 새로운 로봇 인공지능 ’디스포(DiSPo)’를 개발했습니다. 그동안 로봇은 정밀한 조립 작업을 배우려면 아주 많은 자료가 필요했습니다. 하지만 디스포는 사람이 동작을 한 번 보여 주는 것만으로 이 작업을 배울 수 있게 될 것입니다. 또 디스포는 작업 상황에 맞춰 동작을 얼마나 정밀하게 할지 스스로 정합니다. 시뮬레이션에서 디스포는 지금까지 가장 좋은 모델보다 작업 성공률이 최대 81% 더 높았습니다. 이 기술은 앞으로 수술처럼 정확해야 하는 일에도 쓰일 수 있을 것입니다.

A KAIST research team has developed a new robot AI called DiSPo. Until now, robots needed a very large amount of data in order to learn precise assembly work. But with DiSPo, a robot is expected to become able to learn such work just from a person showing the motion once. DiSPo also decides by itself how precisely to move, according to the situation of the task. In simulation, DiSPo's task success rate was up to 81% higher than that of the best model so far. This technology will likely also be used in future for work that has to be accurate, such as surgery.
