Grammar points
N에 따르면according to N
Attaches to a noun naming the source of the information — an agency, a survey, a report. It is the standard way Korean news marks a fact as someone else's statement rather than the writer's own claim, so a sentence that opens with it usually closes with a plain reporting ending like -습니다. Do not confuse it with N에 따라, which means 'in accordance with N'.
Example: 기상청에 따르면 이번 주말에는 비가 내리겠습니다.
According to the Korea Meteorological Administration, it will rain this weekend.
N 가운데among N, out of N
After a noun (often a total or a group), N 가운데 picks out a subset of it: 3,089명 가운데 1,038명 = '1,038 out of 3,089'. 이 가운데 ('of these') is the fixed form used to continue from the number in the previous sentence, which is why statistics articles repeat it. 중에 is the everyday equivalent; 가운데 is the written, formal one.
Example: 지원자 100명 가운데 20명이 합격했습니다.
Twenty out of the 100 applicants passed.
N보다 훨씬far more ~ than N
N보다 marks the thing being compared against, and 훨씬 ('by far') strengthens the gap that follows. The order is fixed: the standard of comparison comes first, then 훨씬, then the adjective or verb — 실내보다 훨씬 많았습니다. Use 더 for a plain 'more'; 훨씬 says the difference is large.
Example: 올해 여름은 작년보다 훨씬 덥습니다.
This summer is far hotter than last year.
