Translation
Live rounds for a military rifle were found in the emergency stairwell of an apartment block in Gwangju, and police have opened an investigation. At about 7:55 a.m. on 13 September, a resident reported finding live ammunition at an apartment block in Dosan-dong, Gwangsan-gu. Police and military personnel who responded found 14 rounds of 5.56 mm rifle ammunition in the emergency stairwell between the first and second floors. The rounds are the type used in the M16 military rifle, which serving soldiers no longer use; they were in a paper box and showed no sign of having been fired. Police believe that a household that recently had renovation work done dropped the box of rounds on the stairs while moving its belongings out. The police handed the ammunition over to the military, and, seeing no espionage angle for the head of that household, are investigating how the rounds came to be in their possession.
