On the afternoon of 28 September, the self-driving police robot 고양 폴리봇 (Goyang Polibot), which was patrolling the square at Hwajeong Station in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province, bumped into a folding table and knocked it over. In the accident, about 20 flowerpots that were on the table fell to the ground and broke, and no one was hurt. Goyang Police Station explained that because the table's legs were on both sides and the middle was empty, the robot judged that it could pass through that space, and then the antenna on its top caught on the table. The robot's operating company has finished filing an insurance claim for the broken pots, and the police asked the company to improve its obstacle-recognition system. The Polibot is an AI patrol robot brought in this February to strengthen safety in blind spots that fixed CCTV cameras cannot see. It now patrols two places, including the Hwajeong Station square, every day from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
