농림축산식품부는 7월 30일 브리핑을 열고, 전국 농지 전수조사의 기본조사를 대상 면적의 97%에 대해 마쳤다고 발표했습니다. 이번 전수조사는 정부 수립 이후 78년 만에 처음으로 실시되는 조사로, 올해 5월에 시작됐습니다. 조사 결과 대상 농지의 27%인 284만 필지가 심층조사가 필요한 농지로 분류됐습니다. 위반 유형별로는 불법 임대차 의심이 21.1%로 가장 많았고, 무단 휴경 의심이 11.6%로 뒤를 이었습니다. 한 필지가 여러 유형에 걸치기도 해서, 중복을 뺀 비율이 27%입니다. 농림축산식품부에 따르면 이번 결과는 행정자료를 바탕으로 위반이 의심되는 농지를 가려낸 것일 뿐입니다. 따라서 다음 달부터 시작되는 심층조사 결과에 따라 위반 의심 면적은 늘거나 줄 수 있습니다.
Translation
The Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs held a briefing on July 30 and announced that it had completed the basic survey stage of the nationwide farmland census for 97% of that stage's target area. This census is the first to be carried out in the 78 years since the government was founded, and it began in May this year. The survey found that 2.84 million plots — 27% of the farmland covered — were classified as land requiring an in-depth investigation. By type of violation, suspected illegal leasing was the most common at 21.1%, followed by suspected unauthorised idling of farmland at 11.6%. A single plot can fall under more than one type, so the figure with the overlap removed is 27%. According to the ministry, these results merely single out farmland suspected of violations on the basis of administrative records. The area under suspicion may therefore rise or fall depending on the results of the in-depth investigation that begins next month.
