The price of chicken meat, the main ingredient of fried chicken, has dropped a lot, but menu prices at the major chicken brands have stayed the same. According to the Korea Poultry Association, the market price of size 9–10 chilled chicken on October 6 was 3,769 won per kilogram, 29.0% lower than this year's March peak of 5,308 won. Even so, BBQ's Golden Olive Chicken and Kyochon's Honey Combo cost 23,000 won each, and bhc's 뿌링클 costs 21,000 won. Instead of cutting prices, the companies are offering more discount coupons. BBQ gives out a 5,000-won discount coupon every day for pickup orders in its own app. On October 6, the Korea Fair Trade Commission sent investigators to the headquarters of the three companies to look into whether they had fixed prices.
