Bundang Police Station in Gyeonggi Province said on 27 September that it had identified four Chinese men in their 20s to 40s who are suspected of breaking into a Chinese restaurant in Bundang, Seongnam, in the early hours of 24 September and spraying lacquer and paint inside it. They are also suspected of sprinkling a substance believed to be pesticide on the food ingredients. The police received the owner's report that morning and identified them in the afternoon, but by then they had already left the country on a morning flight. The police found that they had entered Korea visa-free on two occasions, between a month and a week before the incident. The restaurant uses a name identical to that of China's top leader, and for now the likelihood that they did it out of resentment over this is being given weight. The police plan to keep tracking them through international judicial cooperation.
