Grammar points

-고 있습니다is ~ing (right now)

Attach -고 있습니다 to a verb stem to say the action is going on at the moment. In the article, 팔리고 있습니다 means the book 'is selling' these days, not that it sold once. The plain form is -고 있다; -고 있습니다 is its formal polite ending.

Example: 동생은 지금 도서관에서 책을 읽고 있습니다.

My younger sibling is reading a book at the library right now.

-지만but, although

-지만 joins two clauses and marks the second one as going against the first. It attaches straight to the verb or adjective stem, including past forms: 나왔지만 = 'it came out, but…'. Both halves stay in one sentence, so the polite ending appears only at the very end.

Example: 제 친구는 바쁘지만 매일 책을 읽습니다.

My friend is busy, but she reads a book every day.
