Translation
A new native habitat of the rare plant 등대시호 (Bupleurum euphorbioides) has been confirmed at 850 m above sea level in the Masan area of Goseong County, Gangwon Province. The Korea National Arboretum and a research team at Kangwon National University said on 29 September that they found more than 200 of the plants there while jointly surveying the forests around the DMZ. In plant surveys of the area carried out from 2010 to 2018, the plant was not recorded. 등대시호 belongs to the carrot family and is a rare plant rated Endangered (EN). In Korea it grows sparsely, mainly in the high mountains of the Baekdudaegan range, including Seoraksan. The arboretum explained that the site needs to be watched over time to see how the plants spread and change.
