On July 23, the Korea Institute of Science and Technology (KIST) held the founding ceremony and commemorative symposium for the 'AI Data Center Heat Management Council' at its main campus in Seongbuk-gu, Seoul. More than 45 organizations took part, including companies such as Samsung Electronics, SK Hynix, and LG Electronics, as well as Seoul National University, Sungkyunkwan University, Yonsei University, and the Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI). The council plans to set standards for heat management technology, build a technology roadmap, and establish testing and reliability standards. KIST Vice President Jang Jun-yeon said that as AI semiconductor performance improves rapidly, heat management technology is becoming more important. Seoul National University professor Joo Young-chang explained that this field brings together semiconductors, materials, mechanical engineering, and energy.
