국립한글박물관은 대한민국역사박물관, 한글학회, 세종대왕기념사업회와 함께 서울 종로구 대한민국역사박물관에서 특별전 ’일구이륙 무한이륙’을 내년 2월 9일까지 엽니다. ’일구이륙’은 첫 가갸날이 열린 1926년을, ’무한이륙’은 한글이 앞으로도 끝없이 뻗어 나가기를 바라는 뜻을 담았습니다. 1926년은 훈민정음 반포 480돌이 되는 해였고, 조선어연구회와 신민사는 그해 11월 4일 첫 기념식을 열어 ’가갸날’이라고 이름 붙였습니다. 지금의 10월 9일이 정해지는 데에는 1940년에 발견된 ‘훈민정음’ 해례본이 결정적인 역할을 했습니다. 해례본의 ’9월 상한’이라는 기록을 바탕으로 음력 9월 10일을 반포일로 보고, 이를 양력으로 바꾸면 10월 9일이 됩니다. 이번 전시에서는 최현배의 조선어강습원 수업증서가 진품으로 처음 공개됐습니다.

국립한글박물관 (the National Hangeul Museum), together with the National Museum of Korean Contemporary History, the Hangul Society and the King Sejong the Great Memorial Society, is holding the special exhibition '일구이륙 무한이륙' at the National Museum of Korean Contemporary History in Jongno-gu, Seoul, until February 9 next year (2027). '일구이륙' stands for 1926, the year of the first Gagya Day, and '무한이륙' expresses the hope that Hangul will keep spreading endlessly into the future. 1926 marked the 480th anniversary of the proclamation of Hunminjeongeum, and that year 조선어연구회 (the Korean Language Research Society) and 신민사 held the first commemorative ceremony on November 4 and named it 'Gagya Day'. What played the decisive role in settling today's date of October 9 was the Haerye edition of 'Hunminjeongeum', discovered in 1940. Based on its record of '9월 상한' (the first ten days of the ninth month), the ninth day of the ninth lunar month was taken as the day of proclamation, and converting that to the solar calendar gives October 9. At this exhibition, Choe Hyeon-bae's certificate of completion from the Korean language school (조선어강습원) was shown to the public as an original for the first time.
