At about 10:36 a.m. on September 1, a call came in from a welfare facility in 해남읍, 해남군, 전남, saying 'an otter has appeared'. The authorities who took the call began a capture operation and safely rescued the otter at about 11 a.m., roughly 24 minutes later. The rescued otter was sent to 전남야생동물구조관리센터, a wildlife rescue centre in 순천. The authorities think the otter had been living in 해남천, the stream that runs right beside the facility, and lost its way, and they are looking into the details. -다가 marks an action that was under way when something else happened or cut in. 해남천에 살다가 길을 잃은 says the otter was living in the stream and, in the middle of that, lost its way. The first action is not finished by choice: it is interrupted or turns into the second one, which is what separates -다가 from a plain -고.
