한국은행이 기준금리를 올렸습니다. 7월 16일 금융통화위원회는 기준금리를 연 2.50%에서 연 2.75%로 0.25%포인트 인상했습니다. 금통위원 7명은 만장일치로 이 결정을 내렸습니다. 한국은행이 기준금리를 올린 것은 2023년 1월 이후 3년 6개월 만입니다. 금통위는 물가 상승률이 목표보다 높은 수준을 당분간 이어 갈 것으로 보인다고 설명했습니다. 또한 환율이 크게 흔들리고 수도권 주택 가격이 오르고 있으며 가계 빚도 늘고 있다고 덧붙였습니다. 그래서 이번에 금리를 올리기로 결정했다고 밝혔습니다. 금통위는 앞으로도 금리를 계속 올릴 필요가 있다고 말했습니다.

Translation

The Bank of Korea raised its benchmark interest rate. On July 16, the Monetary Policy Committee raised the benchmark rate by 0.25 percentage points, from 2.50% to 2.75% per year. All seven committee members made this decision unanimously. This is the first time the Bank of Korea has raised the benchmark rate in three years and six months, since January 2023. The committee explained that inflation is expected to stay above its target for some time. It also added that the exchange rate has been fluctuating sharply, housing prices in the greater Seoul area are rising, and household debt is increasing as well. It said that this is why it decided to raise the rate this time. The committee also said that it will need to keep raising rates going forward.
