Meaning

Expresses a future event, plan, or the speaker's expectation or guess about something. With a first-person subject it often shows intention or resolve ('I will ~'); with other subjects it shows prediction ('it will probably ~').
Form
Attaches to a verb or adjective stem: no final consonant + -ㄹ 것이다, final consonant + -을 것이다. Stems ending in ㄹ drop it and add -ㄹ 것이다 (살다 → 살 것이다). The formal written/spoken form is -(으)ㄹ 것입니다; the casual spoken form is -(으)ㄹ 거예요 or -(으)ㄹ 거야.

Common mistakes & nuance
With a first-person subject, -(으)ㄹ 것이다 usually expresses intention/will, not just prediction — compare 저는 갈 것입니다 ('I will go,' a decision) with 비가 올 것입니다 ('it will probably rain,' a guess).
