국보 숭례문의 육축과 주변 성벽 석재에 대한 보존처리 공사가 9월 말쯤 시작됩니다. 2008년 화재 뒤 2013년에 복원을 마친 이후, 성벽 석재를 보존처리하는 공사는 이번이 처음입니다. 2025년 모니터링에서 남쪽 면 아래쪽 석재의 박리·박락이 확대된 것이 확인됐고, 이어진 현장 점검에서는 균열과 흑·백색 오염 등 추가 훼손도 드러났습니다. 공사는 약 75일 동안 진행되며, 석재를 건식과 습식으로 세척하고 균열과 박리 부위의 틈새를 수지로 채우는 작업이 중심입니다. 물성이 약해진 원석재에는 암석 강화처리를 하고, 검게 변한 오염 부위에는 레이저클리닝을 적용합니다. 관리소는 주변에 차량 통행이 많아 매연이 석재 표면에 쌓이면서 검게 보이는 현상이 나타날 수 있다고 설명했습니다.

Translation

Conservation work on the stone base and surrounding walls of 숭례문, a national treasure, is set to begin around the end of September. Since the restoration that followed the 2008 fire was completed in 2013, this is the first conservation treatment of the wall stones. Monitoring in 2025 found that flaking and spalling had spread on the lower stones of the south face, and a site inspection that followed also revealed further damage such as cracks and black and white staining. The work will run for about 75 days, centred on washing the stones by dry and wet methods and filling the gaps in cracked and flaking areas with resin. Weakened original stone will be given a strengthening treatment, and blackened areas will be laser-cleaned. The management office explained that because traffic around the gate is heavy, soot can build up on the stone surface and make it look black.
