Chuseok: Korea's Thanksgiving-Style Harvest Festival

Translation

Chuseok, along with Seollal (Korean New Year), is Korea's biggest holiday. Chuseok falls on August 15 of the lunar calendar, and it is also called Hangawi. On Chuseok, people usually hold a memorial ceremony (charye) with the grains and fruits harvested that year. They also eat songpyeon (rice cakes).
