Grammar

N도 N도

Meaning

BeginnerN do N do

The particle 도 means 'also/too.' Repeating it after two or more nouns lists multiple things that are all possible, true, or done, similar to English 'both A and B' or 'A as well as B,' usually followed by a predicate about ability or occurrence.

Form

Attach 도 directly to each noun — it doesn't change based on whether the noun ends in a vowel or consonant. If a noun already carries the subject particle 이/가 or object particle 을/를, 도 replaces it: 택배 + 도, 돈 + 도 → 택배도 보내고 돈도 냅니다. It can combine with other particles instead of replacing them, e.g. 에도, 에서도.

Examples

Common mistakes & nuance

도 replaces 이/가 and 을/를, so you won't see 이도 or 을도 — just N도. But it attaches after location/direction particles rather than replacing them: 학교에도, 집에서도.
