Attaches to a noun to mean 'following ~' or 'coming after ~,' used mainly in news writing to show that something happens next in a sequence — for example, the next city to host an event, or the next-highest rank after another. It always implies chronological or ranked order: A에 이어 B means B comes after A.
Form
N + 에 이어. Attaches directly to a noun with no batchim-based change. Very common in news headlines and formal writing. A related, more advanced form attaches to a full clause: -(으)ㄴ 데 이어 ('following the fact that ~ happened'), used to link two complete events rather than just two nouns.
