온돌은 한국의 전통적인 난방 방식입니다. 옛날 사람들은 아궁이에 불을 피워서 방바닥 아래에 있는 구들장을 데웠습니다. 구들장이 따뜻해지면 방바닥 전체가 따뜻해집니다. 그래서 한국 사람들은 오래전부터 방바닥에 앉거나 눕는 생활을 했습니다. 요즘 한국 집에서는 아궁이 대신 보일러를 사용합니다. 보일러가 물을 데우면 그 따뜻한 물이 바닥 아래를 지나가면서 방을 데웁니다. 이렇게 온돌은 한국의 특별한 주거 문화를 보여주는 좋은 예입니다.
Translation
Ondol is Korea's traditional heating method. In the past, people lit a fire in the agungi (fire hole) to heat the gudeuljang (heated stone slabs) beneath the floor of the room. When the gudeuljang became warm, the entire floor of the room became warm. For this reason, Koreans have long had a lifestyle of sitting or lying down on the floor. These days, Korean homes use boilers instead of an agungi. When the boiler heats water, the warm water passes beneath the floor and heats the room. In this way, ondol is a good example that shows Korea's unique residential culture.
